As for, what now? Now we can live life as an open minded person who is able to hear what people have to say, and use our own logic combined with evidence provided by science to decide whether something is true or false.
Obviously science will not have all the answers. Nor does it claim to have the absolute truth behind the many mysteries of life. But the thing that makes it unique, is the fact that it is an open book. And that things as we know them can be challenged by using the scientific method to intelligently dispute anything.
At one point in time, people believed the earth was the center of the galaxy and the sun and moon revolved around earth. Now we know that not only does the earth orbit the sun, but that theoreticaly, you could fit one million three hundred thousand earths inside the sun.
The longer we as a species can stay on this earth without destroying it or ourselves, the more we can learn about how amazing life can truly be.
If you're wondering what makes me free, it's simple. I am free from the fear of being struck down by Zeus' lighting bolts. I am free from the fear of my immortal soul being tormented for afterlife in a lake of fire. I am free from the man made theories of life after death and the man made laws that tell me how I have to live this one.
Don't get me wrong. I believe in following the laws of my country because I believe if I don't follow them I'll go to a real prison. You see?
I believe that you wake up everyday and choose to do right, or wrong. YOU. Not and imaginary force of good or evil influencing your choices. You make the choices. Don't blame your evil deeds on the devil, and don't blame your success on God. Blame yourself.
Once you walk in life knowing that you are ultimately responsible for almost everything that happens to you, you are free. I say almost, because of those things in life we have no control over. Like earthquakes and floods and drunk drivers and stuff like that.
Live life. Treat people with fairness and respect. Obey the laws of the land. And raise your children to be open minded and to value education.
