I'm not counting on my work to save me. I already know that I'm saved by grace. I have faith in Him. On account of faith, I've been given grace...and together, through faith and grace I have been saved. Because Christ has given me that, I strive to seek my significance in Him and the work that He has intended for me to do in this world.
I do what I do out of my love for Christ. I.e.: I refuse to drink alcohol on account of loving Christ. I keep out of the club because I love Christ. I share His word because I love Him. That's the "works" that I'm talking about when I say that i live by grace and works. I've been given grace and because of it, i've been compelled to do His good work. Grace is what I've been given, works is what I do to show my greatfulness for it.
