In the context of the gospel: �Life is difficult but it�s more difficult if you don�t understand its purpose and Christ�s role in the overall plan.� I�m saying that in light of Christ�s own admonition: �...my yoke is easy and my burden light�. In other words, once you understand the purpose of life, you will understand why things happen, especially any hardships and trials. There�s a plan of salvation/happiness/redemption/ that our Heavenly Father has prepared for us.

Paul said:
�If in this life ONLY we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most MISERABLE.�

In other words our faith and hope in Christ should not be limited to this mortal life. There�s a better reward that awaits us after we die. Again mortality is only part of a bigger divine plan of our Heavenly Father.

If life is difficult, then it�s a necessity - gold is not the shiny glittering substance until it passes through the fire to rid of its impurities. Such is life.
