um, excuse me, but Oakland voted overwhelmingly AGAINST prop 8. In fact, the entire bay area voted overwhelmingly against prop 8. As for Blacks being 70%, ga.ys are smart enough to understand that the black population that voted yes were those that were following their religious leaders. In addition and unfortunately, the data the outlined the 70% black voters also outlined the demographics with only 38% of those that supported proposition 8 graduated from college while it was 86% of college graduates for those that voted No on Prop 8. It was clear to the educated Californians that this issue was in fact about writing discrimination into the states constitution which is a very dangerous precedent. A majority should never ever be allowed to vote on whether a minority should be entitled to equal and civil rights. Heterosexuals are the majority in California. How do you expect a minority group to out vote the majority? Do you think African Americans were able to obtain equal rights by asking the majority to vote on that issue? No. They were given rights through our legislation and supreme courts that over ruled the states decisi.ons to deny blacks equal protection. Unfortunately, because we still have ignorant narrow minded people, we're having to go through this entire process all over again. The fact of the matter is that ga.ys will prevail. They are simply are part of life and are not going anywhere. They are here to stay whether you like it or not.
