Flawed - But interesting.
The Nazis spread a reign of terror that caused death and suffering unlike any in the history of mankind. Not the Romans - Not even Caligula or Commodus - Engaged in such bizarre and unpopular slaughter while singling out people for extinction because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, or other factors.
And they did so in ways so disgusting and unpopular to most of mankind - That they are still reviled sixty years later, and that most of mankind stood together - United to prevent this from ever happening again.
For inappropriate actions in Iraq - U.S. soldiers have been prosecuted for acting outside of the Geneva Convention and/or conduct unbecoming an officer. Some have even been sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole.
More shocking to me than U.S. military actions in Iraq - Are U.S. PRIVATE forces working in Iraq - Who DON'T answer to the Department of Defense or the Department of Homeland Security. Halliburton, Blackwater and other groups have actual mercenaries on the ground - Who have faced little if any legal action for their misdeeds in Iraq..
